Three more individuals have been apprehended in connection with the tragic demise of a first-year undergraduate student, Swapnadeep Kundu, due to alleged ragging and sexual assault. The total count of arrested senior students and alumni has now risen to 12. Jadavpur University has also submitted a comprehensive report to the University Grants Commission (UGC) regarding the incident. The three newly arrested individuals hail from different districts and were interrogated at Jadavpur police station.

A separate hostel for first-year undergraduates has been introduced by the university administration in response to the student's death from ragging. The New Boys Hostel will now be designated exclusively for first-year students, with senior residents being relocated to other hostels.

The meeting of the anti-ragging committee of the university was held last Wednesday. The decision was taken in that meeting. Dean of Students Rajat Roy issued guidelines in this regard. It has been decided to implement this decision from the current academic year 2023-24.
